ROSES FACIAL BASE CREAM

ROSES FACIAL BASE CREAM

Three ingredients are enough to prepare this facial cream. With three ingredients and a few drops of essential oil and preservative (if we do not want to leave it in the fridge) we can obtain a cream with a spectacular and highly absorbent texture.

We have given it this name because, as you can see, from these 3 basic ingredients it is possible to make many different types of creams. We will always try to post basic recipes that you can later expand.

On the other hand, we have named our base cream “the rose facial cream” because we will use 5 ml of rose EO to flavor it and give it firming properties.

6 parts hydrosol = water

3 parts vegetable oil

2 parts of emulsifier.

Remember our minimalist maxim: less is more if the formula works!

For example: 60 grams of water, 30 grams of oil and 20 grams of emulsifying wax.

For example: 30 grams of water, 15 grams of oil, and 10 grams of self-emulsifying wax.

For a 100 ml cream container we can use this ratio: 45 grams of water, 23 grams of oil and 15 grams of self-emulsifying wax.

Procedure:

We will first weigh the ingredients:

We will start by putting the emulsifier (for example, lanette wax or olivem) in a water bath

and when it is melted we pour the oil, which can be any oil, butter, or even an oleo-macerate that we have prepared ourselves; and finally, the hydrolate.

When everything is well melted, beat very well for 10 minutes and remove from the heat without stopping beating until the cream cools and the emulsion stabilizes.

Then we can add the preservative and the essential oil (about 10-15 drops), in this case, we have chosen rose essential oil.

And that’s it, it’s that simple to make this cream!

TIPS:

The hydrolate can be totally or partially replaced by a mixture of hydrosols, a herbal tea, aloe vera gel or simply water.

Vegetable oil: you can use a single vegetable oil or a mixture of several, you can also partially or totally replace vegetable oils with vegetable butters (like shea butter, avocado, mango …), the texture of your creams will be firmer and more compact.

Keep in mind that beeswax is different from emulsifying wax. Emulsifying wax is necessary to prepare creams with an aqueous phase. If our cream does not have an aqueous phase, only a fatty phase with oils or butter, then the beeswax will be perfect.

It is also advisable to add a vitamin E capsule to oils and butters to prevent long-term rancidity and to better maintain its properties.

We have not added it this time because we have used jojoba oil, which barely never goes rancid, to prepare this cream. Jojoba oil is a great regulator of the cutaneous lipid layer, which is the problem that atopic skin affected by dermatitis usually suffers from.

Preserving the cream:

If you don’t have a preservative, then store your cream in the refrigerator and use it during the week.

If you use COSGARD as a preservative, you will keep your cream in a good condition for several months. With the Cosgard the dosage will be 1%. This preservative also has the advantage that its acidity level is lower than that of the preservative ESP (grapefruit seed extract) and, normally, it less destabilizes this type of emulsions.

However, if you have sensitive skin or those affected by dermatitis, it is better that you use Leucidal, which is the most natural and best tolerated preservative that exists.

The one that I show you here was prepared with rose essential oil, as you know, and it has a very soft and pleasant aroma. In addition, the rose is excellent for firming and brightening the face.

I hope that when you try the recipe you like it as much as I do and that you leave me a comment.
